Connect Any IMAP Mailbox to AI Email Filter
AI Email Filter works with any mailbox that supports IMAP — most providers and web hosts do. If there’s no specific guide for your provider, these three details are all you need.
The three things you need
- IMAP server — usually
imap.yourprovider.comormail.yourdomain.com - Port — almost always
993(IMAP over SSL/TLS) - Password — your mailbox password, or an app password if your provider requires one
Where to find them
- Your provider’s help pages: search for “provider name IMAP settings”.
- Your web host’s control panel: the email section usually lists “manual configuration” or “mail client settings”.
- An existing mail app: if the address already works in Apple Mail, Thunderbird or Outlook, the incoming server shown in the account settings is your IMAP server.
App passwords
Providers with two-factor authentication often reject your normal password for IMAP and ask for an app password instead: Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail and others. Look for “app passwords” in the account’s security settings.
Connect the mailbox
- Sign in at app.email-filter.ai and add a mailbox.
- Enter your full address, the password, the IMAP server and port
993. - Connect. For common providers the server is filled in automatically.
Troubleshooting
- “Invalid credentials”: most often an app password is required, or IMAP access has to be switched on in the provider’s settings first.
- Outlook.com, Hotmail and Microsoft 365: Microsoft no longer allows password logins over IMAP. Support via Microsoft sign-in is coming soon.
- Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your provider’s name and we’ll send you the exact settings.
